The previous weekend, after a hectic league programme for Ivanhoe Runners, the Wymeswold Waddle didn’t count for any competition points but was run on the hottest day of the year so far. First home for Ivanhoe was Nick Rowles, 21st in 32.44, a new personal best for five miles. Just behind him was Phil Stevenson 23rd in 32.52, then came Osian Flowers in his first five miler with a time of 34.19 in 39th place. Andy Lindley ran 34.46 in 43rd, before Emily Wideman stormed home in 36.28 to finish 9th lady. Damon Bland was 69th (36.57), before Ingrid Stevenson set her first time for five miles at 42.10 as 31st lady. Hot on her heels was ladies captain Victoria Smith 42.11 in 32nd, while Kev Wright and Sarah Malone came in together in 43.23 and 43.25 respectively. Jenny Hope set a new personal best, 48.14, ahead of Lauren Howells running 49.29, and Helen Thurogood ran 54.27. Both Rachel Thurbon and Chrissy Betteridge ran their first ever five mile races and clocked 55.08 and 55.48, with Rachel making her debut in Ivanhoe’s colours.
