10/04/2016 - Manchester Marathon

Race results

Several Ivanhoe Runners took part in the Manchester Marathon, generally running it as a substitute for the London Marathon. Sadly the organisation was very poor on several fronts, including a very long baggage collection, inaccurate mile markers and even no clear start line ! Nevertheless good times were posted by all the runners, with Richard Martin having a fantastic run to break three hours for the first time as he clocked 2.59.37 (350th), more than five minutes quicker than his previous best. Also setting a personal best, by just under a minute, was Steve Rundell, clocking 3.24.47 in 1,642nd place. Dave Hobbs ran 3.28.45 (1,713rd), while Karen Bell ran 4.03.29.

Richard and Ange Bebbington ran number two of their four marathons in four weeks challenge for “Wishes for Kids”, Richard clocking 4.11.50, while Ange was delighted with a massive new personal best time of 5.01.48. Between them, both Kevin Brown and Lisa Hughes ran their first ever marathons, Kevin clocking 4.15.18 and Lisa clocking 4.50.26, both great performances.
