Race results

Ivanhoe Runners yet again had a massive team turnout for the latest Derby Runner cross country league fixture, a testing 5.25 mile race at Bradgate Park organised by the Roadhoggs club. The club’s strength in depth should see both mens and ladies teams well placed in this league after another great set of performances.

Fastest for the men once again was Craig Hinds closely followed by Phil Stevenson and men’s club captain Nick Rowles with Charles Robinson and Osian Flowers in close pursuit. Next came triathletes Nick Teige and Steve Baggott with Martin Yeomans and Tom Smith completing the mens’ scorers ahead of Andy Pearce . There were a number of new members running with Alastair Burgwin making his debut for the club and enjoying the muddy surface. Also running well to make a twenty five man strong team were Andy Jeyes, Mike Sharpe, Dean Armstrong, Dave Allery, Pav Mazur, Matt Freeman, Martin Rowse, Alan Edwards, Kevin Brown, Bart Reid, Jason Green, Kev Wright, Keith Baron and John Lewis.

The ladies celebrated cross country captain Teresa Talbott’s birthday by fielding one of their strongest possible teams with the four scoring ladies placing very highly lead by teenager Ellie Armstrong who was 6th ahead of Faith Tipper, 20th, Rosie Dear, 30th and Zoe Allery, 43rd. Again completing a very strong team of twenty five runners were Karen Bell, Victoria Smith, Emily Wideman, Cathy Bradley, Tracey Powell, Ingrid Osborne, Amanda Bradbury, Anne Newbery, Carolyn Osborne, Teresa Talbott, Ruth Green, Sarah Malone, Helen Smith, Tracey Smith, Karen Edwards, Helen Horn, Bev Trilloe, Heather Swan and Katie Poole. The official results remain outstanding but the performances on show can only consolidate the league standings for both teams.
