13/12/2015 - Keyworth Turkey Trot

Race results

With a number of runners struggling with illness and injury it was a depleted Ivanhoe Runners team that took on the Keyworth Turkey Trot on Sunday. An annual favourite for the club, this testing race attracts a quality field due to its excellent organisation and testing hilly route. Fastest for Ivanhoe was Alistair Chambers who appears to be making a strong return from injury finishing third vet 50 and 69th overall in 1:27:30. Men’s Captain Nick Rowles and team mate Gerard Eivors paced the race perfectly pushing each other to a fantastic finishing time of 1:27:58 (74th and 75th), an excellent new personal best performance for both men. Ian Bolton, not used to seeing the back of his team-mates was next, 86th in 1:28:33. Veteran Andy Jeyes missed out on a prize turkey this year as he finished second vet 60, albeit in the excellent time of 1:32:40 (150th). Fastest lady once again this week was Clare Fowell (171st, 1:34:04), followed by Stephen Rundell (198th, 1:35:16) ahead of Rosie Dear, next (290th, 1:41:09) and Tim Sturla (320th, 1:42:20). After a successful season Martin Yeomans enjoyed a trot round this week (430th, 1:47:10) whilst Richard Bebbington and Victoria Smith crossed the line together in 1:51:18 (522nd) and 1:51:23 (523rd). Ian Kirk paced Tracey Powell around the course to a pleasing time of 1:52:04 (546th) with Ian just behind (547th , 1:52:33) closely followed by a strong running Carolyn Osborne (560th, 1:54:00). Ian Mortimer made a rare outing in the Ivanhoe vest, next (592nd, 1:55:01) followed by Anne Newbery finishing well in 640th (1:57:39). Trish McPherson just missed the 2 hour mark next (694th, 2:00:35) ahead of Heather Swan who worked hard and was disappointed to finish 744th in 2:04:14. Completing the team was Angela Bebbington who was delighted to smash her previous personal best as she finished 776th (2:06:05). Unfortunately Dave Hobbs had to pull out feeling unwell at 10 miles.
