Race results

Ivanhoe Runners saw another busy weekend with members competing in a range of different events. The latest round of the Leicestershire Road Running League took part on Sunday at the Kibworth 6 mile race, a tough rural course with 2 challenging hills. With many members training for Spring marathons the team was a little depleted but the club’s current strength in depth saw two full sides compete strongly with some great individual performances. Fastest for the team once again was Ramzi Sidani, continuing his consistent season as he finished very well in 46th place (37:13). Martin Yeomans was next fastest, 41:03 (115th) ahead of Simon Terry who had a pleasing return to the team coming home in 42:02 (144th). The next Ivanhoe men ran very well for the team packing closely together led by Dave Morse (45:49, 225th) followed by  Kev Wright (45:52, 235th) Damon Bland (45:55, 237th) and Alan Edwards (46:15, 239th). Laura Johnson led the ladies team home despite having won a tough race the previous day, finishing 36th lady and 245th overall in 46:47. Jason Green was next with a great race that saw him set a new personal best of 46:42 (250th), a great achievement on this challenging course and closely followed by Chris Finney who also set a new personal fastest time of 46:47 (258th). Second Ivanhoe lady was Amanda Bradbury having a great race despite marathon training (49:08, 308th and 30th lady) followed by Victoria Smith (48:52, 317th) and Carolyn Osborne (50:35, 343rd). Fiona McKean, returning to racing after a few weeks in the Alps as a ski instructor, ran well next (52:57, 390th) ahead of Allie Sturla who enjoyed the hills finishing in 54:06 (405th). London-bound Jackie Williams was next (54:34, 416th) just ahead of a strong run from Karen Edwards (54:54, 420th). Lucy Allsop continued her great debut season next, 429th in 55:59 with Grania Towles also running well in her debut 6 mile race (57:49, 455th) and Maureen Danvers, making a welcome return following injury next (474th in 61:00). John Lewis continued his great commitment to the club finishing in 61:52 (483rd) ahead of Catherine Brooke, in her debut 6 mile event and first ever race for the club finishing strongly in 71:50 (505th) with Julie Henfrey not far behind, 508th in 75:33, great performances by all.
