TRISH McPherson of Ivanhoe Runners competed in the Kona Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii, the showcase event for triathletes all over the world.

With gruelling qualification standards, the event is only open to a small number of athletes in each age category and McPherson, having qualified at the Ironman Wales event last year, performed alongside the best professional triathletes in the world.

McPherson had an excellent day, finishing 36th in her category in an impressive 16 hours, four minutes and 43 seconds.

Nick Teige also completed his penultimate event in his personal challenge of running 10 marathons in 10 weeks.

Teige took on the Forest of Dean Marathon, run over eight 5.3km laps of the Adidas Trail at Mallards Pike.

Ably supported by nine Ivanhoe team-mates, Teige had a great run, finishing in fifth place in a time of 3.28.47.

Andy Jeyes ran seven of the eight laps, while Ruth Green, Heather Swan and Andy Lindley completed four laps each. Judith Webster-Sanders, Sally Jeyes and Jason Green took on three laps and Kevin Sanders ran two.

All nine Ivanhoe Runners accompanied Teige for his final lap.

Teige has already raised more than £1,800 for the Brain Tumour Charity and completes his challenge at the Abingdon Marathon.

Ian Kirk and Tim Sturla were in action yet again, this time completing the Spires and Steeples 26-mile challenge from Lincoln to Sleaford in 4.04.00.

Elsewhere Alistair Chambers and Ian Bolton ran the Daventry 10-mile road race. Bolton smashed his previous personal best by more than seven minutes in 1.02.25, with Chambers also recording his best time in 1.03.10.

Simon Terry also set a new personal best at the Tamworth 10k race, where he finished in 30th in 40.06.

Hayley Rudin completed her first duathlon at Broxtowe, finishing in 26.15.

Finally, Angela Wheeler completed a 400km cycle ride across Cuba. With temperatures topping 35C, Angela completed the gruelling event in 5 days, raising a magnificent £3,200 for the charity Women v Cancer.
