20/10/2014 - Abingdon, Birmingham, Palma

Race results

It was yet again another important weekend for Ivanhoe Runners with members taking part in a range of events. Nick Teige completed his incredible string of ten marathons in ten consecutive weeks, with an excellent run in the Abingdon Marathon, finishing in 203rd place in 3 hours 23 minutes. This sees Nick raise over £2000 for the Brain Tumour Charity as he has completed his testing challenge with impressively strong runs in every race. Nick can still be sponsored using the link:

Accompanying Nick at Abingdon were Martin Yeomans, running his 40th marathon and pleased to finish in 4:17:15 despite limited training (514th) and Francesca Sinclair (568th in 4:40:22).

Also completing a full marathon, this time in Amsterdam, was Clare Fowell who had a tough race with illness but showed her class by still finishing 20th in category in an impressive 3:30:38.

Several members took on the Birmingham Half marathon over a testing route with a challenging hill climb approaching the final miles. Ian Bolton had an excellent race to set a new personal best by over 2 minutes, crossing in 1:24:38 (174th). Kev Wright also had a great run finishing in 1:32:51 with Lynda Revill next, also impressing with a 1:49:13 finish. Gabby Smith set an excellent new personal best just outside the two hour mark in 2:00:31. She will surely dip below two hours on an a less punishing course. Will Wright found the course tough going after holiday, finishing in 2:20:37. Julie Henfrey only started running this year and did very well to complete her first ever half marathon, supported by Fiona McKean who ran with her. Both finished in 2:59:32, a great achievement for Julie.

Andy Lindley, on holiday in Mallorca, took on the Palma 10k and was very pleased with his strong run which saw him complete the slightly long course in 46:47. Rounding off the weekends running were Amanda Bradbury and dog Beau who enjoyed the Hick's Lodge canicross 5k dash.
