06/10/2014 - Bournemouth Chester Cardiff

It was yet again another action packed weekend for Ivanhoe Runners with members taking on varied races up and down the country. Continuing his epic charity fundraising series of ten marathons in ten weeks, Nick Teige competed in the Bournemouth marathon and had a fabulous race. Despite legs that have already taken the battering of seven previous marathons in as many weeks, Nick finished 152nd in 3:23:15 to set him up nicely for his final two events. Also taking on the full 26.2 mile distance up at the Chester Marathon were Becca Hallam, Dave Hobbs and Andy Lindley and what a day it was for the trio with personal best performances all round! Becca was first home in an amazing time of 3:24:08 which placed her 9th in category and set a brand new Ivanhoe ladies club record for the marathon, brilliant running. Not far behind came Dave Hobbs who smashed his previous best time by 30 minutes as he crossed in 3:27:27. Andy Lindley ran with the pair for the first 18 miles and despite a season’s training interrupted by illness had an excellent run to post a new PB time of 3:33:36. Regular marathoner Tim Sturla chose the Cardiff half marathon this weekend and enjoyed the race along with 24,000 other runners, finishing in 1 hour 38 minutes. Also on tour was Maureen Danvers who ran the Southsea Pirates Pieces of Eight 8 mile race in Portsmouth finishing well in 1 hour 19 minutes. Closer to home saw two club mates race the Rugby 10 mile event. Fastest was the continually improving Rebecca Wilkinson with an excellent race which saw her finish in an impressive 1:19:05 ahead of Victoria Smith, also running well following last week’s Nottingham half and posting a time of 1:23:33.
