A big thanks to @heartwizecpr who have been running training sessions over the past two weeks for our @ashby20roadrace volunteers, that will be marshalling the course and manning the drinks stations.

Ever since a runner within our XC league experienced cardiac arrest during a race, Ruth Green and her team have joined forces with Heartwize to provide these incredible life skills.

So remember, DRS ABC:

DANGER [Check for danger, ie. cars)

RESPONSE [Are you okay? Can you hear me?]

SHOUT FOR HELP! [Call 999, find a defib, get others to support you]

AIRWAYS [Check any blockage to their airways]

BREATHING [Are they breathing? Watch the chest]

CPR [Start chest compressions, attach defib and follow it’s simple instructions]

The sooner you act, the more chance of survival there is.

Whilst we hope that the skills we’ve learnt will never be needed, we’re super grateful to the team for showing us the ropes.
