05/02/2023 - Fun times in February.

Happy Friday wonderful runners and welcome to another jam packed report.

The Peak Running team organise the Winter Bash, the alternative version to the summer counterpart in the clockwise direction. The iconic route from Ticknall is well known to lots of our runners, often using it as an opportunity for some solid training or a nice long hike.

Newcomer Adrian Fowler was first back for the team, finishing in position 21 in 1:27:33. James Ogilvie right behind in 22 for 1:27:37, his first time on the Winter direction having completed the summer twice before. Nest up in position 33 was Chris Osborne, running 1:31:28 and Geoff Brown completed our quartet, both also having already tried their hand at the summer edition last year.

Clare Wood got a mention earlier this week for her Stamford 30K performance, and only the week before she was out doing amazing things down in the capital. Her previous best 10K got destroyed at the Winter Run, improving on her Adrian Smith run by 18 seconds, coming to the finish in 45:17.

Dynamic duo Andrea Trickett and Becky Moult were in Warwick for the half marathon, a somewhat undulating course but a morning of perfect conditions. It was a fabulous personal best for Becky, a clocking for her of 1:36:49 and an impressive 37th place. For Andrea is was a brilliant marathon rehearsal, testing out pacing, shoes and gels, coming away with a superb 1:48:34 finish.

At the Charnwood Hills (not very flat this one), we had 10 runners taking on the always popular 14 mile challenge. No stranger to this course, Ramzi Sidani was first back for the club in 26th, and time of 1:43:05. Next in was Paul Woods, 38th place and 1:46:29, followed by Richard Martin, 67th place in 1:54 on the dot, and James Cox in 2:08:44.

Amelia Monaghan was out tackling her 2022 nemesis and did herself insanely proud with a 2:18:59, running with best pal Pat Horn making a fabulous team. Paul Averillo had them in his sights only a few minutes behind, the time for him of 2:20:50. Marathon legend Ian Kirk was next in 2:26:12, along with Martin Yeomans in 2:32:05, and Tim Sturla in 2:42:55. Julie Taylor was also out doing her thing, but we can’t see a result for the champ.
