16/12/2022 - Going bananas for Bogworth.

Race results

The second XC fixture of the season was at the (much frequented on the circuit) destination of Bagworth Heath Woods. Thanks to Desford Striders for hosting the event, enjoyed by a massive turnout of 30 Ivanhoes.

22 filled the men’s race, led home in 10th by Mark Parker, and it was 20th for Ramzi Sidani who was 2nd in his age category. Rob Baden made his XC debut, a smashing 26th place, and no stranger to the muddy fun, Paul Woods claimed 42nd. Paul Codd and Captain James Cox followed only three seconds apart, and Daniel Bladon was our second debutant, arriving back at the finish securing 55th. It was then Karl WIdeman that completed our set of scorers for the men’s team in 64th place.

Every runner matters to reduce the places gained by other teams, and it was Andrew Stanley, 9th home for Ivanhoe and 73rd place doing his duty well. Jordan Cope and Patrick Horn were only 2 seconds apart, with James Ogilvie next home.

Adrian Fowler made it two for two, the Holly Hayes and Bagworth runs being his two outings to date in an Ivanhoe vest. It was then Andrew Bottrill, Mark Bradford, Andy Hough and Rich Hope that all collected top 200 tokens upon greeting the end of the funnel.

Martin Yeomans and Paul Averillo were another pair closely matched, with Roger Western next to the finish, Keith Baron who took silver position in his age category, and Mukesh Deva received a warm welcome to the team after a brief hiatus from racing.

8 of our ladies joined forces, two Emily’s in the mix. Wideman had a super strong run to nail 15th place and 3rd in her age category, and Partridge worked hard to collect the number 25 token. Captain Fiz Betts was close behind in 29th, and Suzy Parish completed the scoring quarter in 49th.

Newcomer Michelle Coates was our final runner showing face for the first time at a XC event, Lindsay Tilbury, Teresa Talbott and Amanda Bradbury were next to conquer the almost five mile feat, another of our superstars it’s fabulous to see regularly in the squad again.

After two races, the mixed team moves from 4th to 3rd, the men hold steady in 4th, and the ladies jump up one to 4th. The next event is Martinshaw Woods on 15 January. Be there, or miss out on cake!
