26/06/2022 - Prestwold & the Gallopers


The 2️⃣nd edition of our Throw🔙 series lands us on Sunday 26 June; where up and at um bright and early were the Ashby Sport Fun Day setup squad. Headed up by club member Helen Horn and her partner Kenny, the day was a huge success, sports clubs from Ashby coming together to showcase the variety available to get involved in whatever your interest. The wonderful weather added to it being a great occasion, and a big thanks goes out to everyone that supported the event.

At Prestwold 10K, Paul Woods was first back in blue, attacking hard for a 4 min PB. Alistair Chambers finished second in his age category, followed by Andy Cole running a PB taking 1 min 12 off his time from Silverstone 2019. Chris Osborne ran the third PB of the day, taking 2 min 20 off his time from last years Gate Gallop race.

Mindy Ashton was our first lady, both herself and Bec Enion breaking through 50. Laura Graves finished second in her age cateorgy, and just over a minute later Lindsay Tilbury crossed the line in another PB time, knocking 32s off the time she set this year at the same venue.

Sue Tait finished third in her age category. Sophie Lee was the final runner to earn herself a PB time, a fabulous 3 min 12 banished from her previous best set at Tamworth 2019. Julie Henfrey who loves the LRRL fixtures was our final runner in 1:28:53.

Elswhere, the Gate Gallop 10K got underway. Taking 3rd was Tom Potter in 36:30, a club course record, and 4th place just 6s later was Mark Parker earning the senior male trophy. Ramzi Sidani was 3rd for Ivanhoe and 11th back, earning the trio the team prize.

Shaun Coulton had a good run in 41:26, James Cox earned himself a PB time by 11s on the off road route. James Ogilvie was next over the line running 47:54 and Emily Partridge made the top 10 in 49:41. Andrew Bottrill having already ran in the earlier kids race was next notching up some good miles for the day.

Paul Averillo ran strong to finish sub 55, and Martin Yeomans did well battling the and stiles to finish under the hour. Keith Baron followed in 1:00:13, and Katie Morby and Suzanne Jones wore their Ivanhoe vests for the first time and ran together, enjoying the course.
