30/05/2022 - Waddlers and Brummies.

Following on from the great success at Uttoxeter, on that same overcast morning, runners were off doing us proud at other races too.

First up at @great_run Birmingham where both a 10K event, and a half marathon were being staged. In the 10K race, the Edwards duo of Karen and Alan were out representing, returning after also running the event in 2018. Alan crossed the line 48:23 and Karen in an hour and 38 seconds. Well done both!

In the half marathon distance it was an all female affair. Starting from the top, and we mean right at the top, taking first place was Abby Halcarz, storming to the finish in an incredible 1:20:03. Not only securing the race win, but also a phenomenal personal best knocking off EIGHT minutes and 38 seconds from her previous time at the Keyworth Turkey Trot in 2019. What a performance.

Charlene Taylor was out on course completing her debut half marathon for the club, and did so in fine form with an incredible time of 1:46:24. Laura Graves was next, followed by Mindy Ashton, who have both had a fabulous run of races of late, starting with the Brighton marathon, and now two half marathons on consecutive weekends, Birmingham being followed by Shakespeare in Stratford. Laura ran a superb 1:52:16, securing herself a gold standard time for the collection, with Mindy also running over a minute quicker than the weekend before in 1:53:03.

Meanwhile we had a whole gaggle of runners at the popular Wymeswold Waddle, some even cycling there (and some back too!). Three personal bests flocked the field, courtesy of Damon Bland (knocking 12 seconds off his time from Joy Cann 5 in 2015!), Suzy Parish (taking 29 seconds off her time from Run in the Forest only last month) and Jenny Hope who slashed an amazing 1 minute and 56 seconds from the same race in 2017. They were joined by James Cox, John Finn, Mark Bradford, Vic Smith and Helen Finn. Well done to you all!
