27/03/2022 - Ivanhoe 20 2022

While some stuck to their usual parkrun routines, others could be found in Worthington and along the Cloud Trail. As is tradition, the day before the Ashby 2️⃣0️⃣, Ivanhoe Runners stage their own version, giving runners an atmospheric opportunity to bank that 20 mile training run in the lead up to their goal marathon, or just because, of course.

The course saw the runners head out for five miles joined by Nick and Vic on their bikes keeping spirits high, seeing Alex at the infamous hairpin turn, out to human traffic cones Paul and Mukesh, and heading back to the start point manned by Kim, Pippa and Gemma, before following their footsteps to repeat for a second time. Some runners also turned out for one out and back to complete 10 miles, along with other distances too to bank a weekend training run. A big well done to you all.

The winners are awarded the Ivanhoe 20 shield, and for 2022, retaining their titles, was Ramzi Sidani in a cracking 2:13:57 (🥇 male and 🥇 overall) and Emily Wideman (🥇 female and 🥉 overall) in a stunning 2:37:23. Best of luck to both of you at Manchester marathon next weekend. Sandwiched between the two for 🥈 position was Paul Woods in a fantastic 2:28:56.

Another 1️⃣1️⃣ sky blue runners followed behind them completing epic performances. A big round of applause please for Tom Smith, Patrick Horn (in his build towards Brighton Marathon), Matt Joyce, Andrea Trickett (maintaining a wonderfully consistent pace earning her silver standard), Fiz Betts (who will be lining up with Andrea at Boston, Lincs), Sophie Cooper (a tremendous feat towards Edinburgh marathon), Martin Yeomans, Tim Sturla, Judy Mouncer (also taking on Edinburgh’s 26.2), Jill Singleton and Jess Southwart (in her build towards Milton Keynes marathon).

Runners were welcomed at the finish by a makeshift Ivanhoe Runners gantry (usually disguised as our club flag) and the classic cheese cob thanks to ladies captain Gemma Shaw. ✌🏼
