26/02/2022 - parkrunday!

It’s that time again, it’s parkrunday, but what went down last weekend?

It was milestone celebrations galore at Conkers parkrun, with Jessica Southwart hitting the full century achievement and Ange Bebbington making it to the mighty 250 mark.

Massive well done to both of you! Jess completed 86 of her 100 parkrun at her home run of Conkers, with seven at Sheringham, with visits along the way to Harrogate, Millom, Rosliston, Blackpool and Long Eaton. Ange has completed a grand total of 215 parkruns at Conkers, along with five trips to Lanhydrock, four at Sheringham (seemingly quite popular!), with other notable visits to Fell Foot, Hove Prom, Eden Project, Mount Edgcumbe and even a trip to Germany to complete Riemer parkrun, as part of a club tour to Munich in 2019.

Elsewhere, Bob White got a rare opportunity to run the course he is a core volunteer member at, completing the three lapper of Sconce and Devon park in Newark in 24:56.

On the touring front, reports of runners branching out were limited due to so many events falling to the wrath of Storm Eunice, but four hardy tourists took their chances.

Kevin and Judith took on Heslington parkrun, a fast five lapper on the York University campus, and found themselves therefore joined by lots of young speedies clearly not suffering with hangovers to be up and out for the 9am start. Kev was particularly pleased to dip under the 30 minute mark, with Judith a couple of minutes ahead in 27:26.

In Towcester, Mark and Emily also took on a multi-lapper round Watermeadows for four loops. Mark found himself being quizzed by a junior on the time he planned to run the 5K, and took a wonderful opportunity to pace the youngster round to a fabulous personal best and the first time achieving the P1 token. Emily then jumped onto barcode scanning while Mark finished his long run.

The volunteering continued at parkrunday for the 4 to 14 year olds on Sunday morning, with Emily, Kev and Carolyn pulling on the high vis to marshal the 2K course at Swadlincote, and Chris on barcode scanning duties.
