31/01/2022 - parkrunday!

How best to banish those Monday blues than with a round-up from the joy of parkrunday?

Starting at Ivanhoe’s parkrun home, 37 runners stomped along the trails of Conkers on a more mild morning than most recently. Celebrating a fabulous 50 parkruns was our wonderful Sophie Turner! Sophie’s ran 47 of her parkruns at Conkers and has also been on tour to Kingsbury, Sherwood Pines and Braunstone. Massive well done on your milestone achievement Sophie!

It was great to see Simon Hill back parkrunning, his first one after the pandemic pause, Tom Potter was out pacing his mum, Jo, round to a fabulous new personal best, great job Tom, and congratulations to Shaun Coulton who brought home the number three token.

A GINORMOUS thank you to those who stepped up to volunteer: Andrea Allen, Mo Danvers and Pippa David.

There were plenty flying the flag elsewhere, and we’ll start local at Long Eaton, where round the two laps of West Park you would have found Richard Martin, Emily Partridge and Mark Parker. Paced round by Mark, Emily put in a decent effort to score a one second course PB, with Mark then going on to complete another four parkruns for his 16 mile long run.

In search of a letter towards their parkrun alphabet, Chris and Carolyn Osborne ventured to Jersey Farm parkrun, that’s in St Albans, not the Channel Island. The Osborne’s have visited a mighty 47 different parkrun events, and now just need three more letters to complete their alphabet quest (T, V and Z, in case you have any recommendations for them!)

Social Sec, Victoria Smith was visiting Stratford Park parkrun in Stroud for the first time, finishing the hilly course as fifth female. Another avid tourist in our parkrun crazy family, this was Vic’s 33rd different event.

Finally across the county to Belvoir Castle, where we’ve had runners at every event that has taken pace for this newbie parkrun. At it’s third outing, we had Andy & Sally Jeyes, Judith Webster-Sanders, and Bob White, with a special mention to Kev Sanders who ran… wait for it…. his 400th parkrun! Touring to Belvoir notched up his 129th different event, and as well as all the running, Kev has volunteered a fabulous 89 times. Well done!
