17/01/2022 - Celebration Evening Jan 2022 Pt4

We continue to shout our amazing 2021 award winners from the rooftops, and next up are two inspiring duos that are guaranteed to make anyone say ‘WOW’ ๐Ÿคฉ

First up, the Brian Gough award, in memory of a great friend we lost not so long ago, and the responsibility of taking care of this phenomenal glassware, which was presented to Andrea Trickett and Julie Taylor. These two training partners will often be seen (usually only via Strava because the rest of us are in bed) at the crack of dawn getting their sessions in, and it hasn’t half paid off. This year between them they’ve completed the Broadway marathon, the Hathersage Hurtle, London marathon, the Limestone 50, the Dukeries 40, the Ladybower marathon, the Three Peaks fell race and the Peak District 33 mile ultra. I’m tired just writing all that. An incredible feat, well done ladies.

Next up to the Margaret Hibbell award, and this year it was presented to two marathon runners.

To Abby Halcarz, who stormed this years Manchester marathon in 2:53, taking the Ivanhoe ladies marathon record and the first to go sub 3 hours and finished in an astounding sixth place. Abby works so hard and her makes her running look effortless. Massive congratulations Abby. ๐Ÿฅณ

And to Matt Humphreys who this year completed the London marathon. Not only did Matt complete the marathon in an amazing 4:12, he completed on a frame runner, being the first person to ever do so. Matt continues to push the boundaries of what is possible, and we are so proud that you chose to join us at Ivanhoe, demonstrated by the standing ovation he received upon taking the stage to accept his award.

I said it at the start and I’ll say it again. Inspiring people. We are in awe. Well done to you all. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ
