Race results

In a fairly quiet weekend for racing, many of our runners used the opportunity to complete long runs as they work towards spring marathon goals, Of course there was also the usual high turnout at Conkers Parkrun, and with Fiona Betts taking on the run directors role, the run was headed by regulars Richard Martin in 4th position in 18:39 and Faith Tipper 7th out of the ladies with 23:04, with Sandra Lawless close behind in 24:07 to gain 9th female. 33 club members ran altogether, with others touring elsewhere including Rosliston and Sherwood Pines.

On Saturday, Nick Rowles and Alistair Burgwin ran the Midlands Counties cross country at Leamington, a tough 12k course with plenty of mud and hills, Alistair finished in position 158 with a gun time of 50:26, while Nick finished in position 174 in 51:04 gun time.

At the Gayton 10k in Northampton, Andrew Botrill made light of the uphill finish to run a speedy 45:44, while Grania Towle completed the course in 1:03:02.

Meanwhile Ian Kirk ran the Waterways 30 Ultra, along the Chesterfield canal and the river Trent near Gainsborough. Actually measuring 32 miles and despite being relatively flat there were some really exposed and windy sections and the trip hazards along the riverbanks are quite hard to navigate, so he was very happy to run it in 5:58.
