06/03/2018 - Stilton 7, Cambridge half

Race results


Road running season kicked off on 25th February with the Stilton 7, the 1st race of the Leicestershire Road Running League.

In position 43, Craig Hinds was first home for Ivanhoe with a speedy 44:08. Adam Smyth came in next in 47:54, closely followed by Andrew Stanley 48:02, and Karl Smith in 50:04. Clare Fowell, continuing her return to racing was first lady for the club with a time of 50:47. Sophie Cooper had a storming run and new personal best to finish in 52:11, pipping Fiona Betts to 52:15.

Mukesh Deva, Karen Hartland and Mark Hoult all came in under the hour with times of 55:14, 56:52 and 57:11.

Gemma Shaw, in an improvement by nearly 7 minutes achieved 1:01:45, followed by Helen Finn in 1:02:05 after running 15 miles at Belvoir Challenge the day before! Jez Millington Pipe got a time of 1:04:34, followed by Marie Concannon with a new PB of 1:05:05 despite running on post Belvoir Challenge legs. Mandy Morris proving to be a promising VF55 with another great time of 1:09:07.

Sonia Hoult was next over the line with 1:13:33, a personal best by over 6 minutes. Also with a new PB, Chrissy Betteridge clocked 1:15:56, then Marie Miller in 1:18:58. Completing the team was Michelle Moore (1:25:16) and Julie Henfrey (1:26:09)

Amy Derbyshire was the sole competitor for Ivanhoe this weekend as storm Emma meant many races were called off. Amy ran the Cambridge Half marathon in a time of 2:07:42, despite the weather, stating “One of the best events I’ve done - really well organised, great support all the way round including live rock bands and the flattest course ever! Highly recommended
