The Midland Counties Cross Country was held on Saturday 27th, within the grounds of Wollaton Park. Nine Ivanhoe runners took on the undulating course, which included long stretches of energy sapping mud and a log to jump!

1st home for Ivanhoe in the mens race was Alistair Burgwin, he came in position 182, in a time of 53 minutes and 11 seconds. Not far behind was Craig Hinds, 53 minutes 49 seconds to finish in 194th place. Men's captain Nick Rowles was next in 215th place with a time of 54:48, with Andy Lindley's time of 01:01:35 completing favourable results in tough competition.

For the Ladies, it was Rebecca Hobbs leading the way in an excellent 103rd place in 40:27. This was followed in 127th place for Fiona Betts in 41:57. Ladies captain Victoria Smith came in 134th position with 42:14. Carolyn Osbourne flew round to 173rd with a time of 45:16, with Teresa Talbott concluding the women's runners in 45:51, obtaining 184th place. As a team, Ivanhoe's Senior Women placed in 23rd with 537 points.

Also on Saturday, regular distance runner Ian Kirk completed the Waterways 30, along the chesterfield canal and the river Trent. With muddy and windy conditions, Ian also decided to carry an extra 5kg in his backpack as part of his training for the Marathon de Sables, finishing in a time of 6 hours 27 minutes.

     

Just 3 runners from Ivanhoe were out racing on Sunday 28th, with Grania Towle, Andrew Botterill and Helen Finn taking on the Gayton 10k in Northamptonshire. Andrew was first back for the club in 49:11. Helen and Grania both tackled the course well to finish in times of 58:34 and 1:01:30 respectively.
