28/02/2015 - Belvoir ChallengeThere was a strong cross-country theme for Ivanhoe Runners this weekend, starting on Saturday with the Belvoir Challenge. Renowned for the plentiful supply of cakes at frequent intervals along the route, this tough event sees runners take on a very hilly and muddy route, with options to complete at either 15 or 26 miles. Taking on the full marathon distance and finding it tough, given an amended hillier route and gruelling conditions underfoot, were Andy Gilles, Ian Kirk and Tim Sturla, all three finishing together in 4 hours 52 minutes.
A group of Ivanhoe ladies complete the 15 mile course, enjoying the muddy route and the cake stops alike. Fastest was Victoria Smith who came home in 3:22 ahead of Sarah Sanganee, Heather Swan, Amanda Bradbury and Teresa Talbott who finished together in 3:31 with Carolyn Osborne and Trish Mcpherson completing the team in 3:37 and 3:39 respectively.
