26/03/2022 - 5K mania

There’s been so much happening in camp Ivanhoe this past week, but we’re going to kick off with the short stuff. 5K (and under), I’m looking at you!

Amelia Willden got the ball rolling with a double personal best evening at the Dave Denton one mile and 5K events in Derby. The night begin with a one mile blast, where she was home and dry in a swift 6:46. Just 13 minutes of recovery time later and she toed the start line once more to complete a dazzling 5K in 23:07. Congratulations Amelia on a super successful evening!

Andrew Stanley joined her at the super fast midweek event, clocking a superb 5:55 mile for 6th place, and flew round the 5K in 19:21, only six seconds outside his personal best from the same course. Looks like exciting things are coming for Stan in 2022.

Onto Saturday for the rest of the 5K action, 24 Ivanhoes took to the Conkers parkrun trails. Congratulations to Elaine Moulton for hitting the purple milestone of 25 parkruns! Big shoutout to this weeks Conkers volunteers, and particularly club members Ange Bebbington and Laura Graves.

On tour this week and starting closer to home, Richard Martin took on the two lap flat course of Long Eaton for his 270th parkrun. Tom Potter could be found at Wollaton Hall parkrun, where (and I quote), he was “chased by a lad in a Forest shirt first mile, so had to up it”, landing him the P1 token in a sparkling time of 17:27. At Alvaston parkrun, Shaun Coulton started his quest to his 100 milestone after collecting number 50 on his last run, and round the course for the first time Shaun was home in 3rd (non)medal position.

Mark Parker and Emily Partridge travelled across to the West Mids for Woodgate Valley parkrun, sandwiching their parkrun miles into a longer run, and Karl Wideman continued his sensible return from injury at Huddersfield parkrun.
