17/12/2023 - Perfect Pisa Performances.Race resultsThings may have quietened down a tad over the festive period but there’s still plenty of superstars to shout about. We start with the Italian collaboration between team blue and team yellow, with a trip to Pisa for the full and half marathon experiences. James Cox nailed his first proper road marathon, demonstrating his total commitment to training and brought home an epic 2:52:50 clocking, improving on his Tissington run in April by 19 minutes. Mark Harriott also had a whirl round the marathon course, a superb 3:25:59 for the marathon machine having already completed London, Wales and Abingdon events this year. The Finn’s chose the half marathon distance, a sweet sub 90 for John in 1:29:31, and with an amazing personal best of more than 5 minutes, it was Helen that stormed to the finish in 1:49:49 to improve on her 2018 Turkey Trot time in splendid fashion. Ian Kirk is back racking up the marathon outings, with two more added to his CV in recent weeks. Towards the end of December he completed the Pied Piper marathon in 58:01:43, and yesterday he went dizzy with a crazy 17.5 laps of Furzton Lake in Milton Keynes, a lot spent weaving amongst pedestrians, swans and dogs, for 26.2 numero 146. The Huncote Hash New Years Day extravaganza looked more like a swim at times, but guest appearances from Toy Story’s Slinky Dog (Sophie Turner and Patrick Horn, 1:16:11), Superman and woman (Paul Woods and Lindsay Tilbury 1:13:06)), Dorothy’s Wizard of Oz (James Cox 43:04) and the beginnings of a wedding, with vicar, bride and bridesmaid (Damon Bland, Lily Smith & Jane Bland 1:20:18 / 1:29:44) made for a super fun day out by the looks of the photos! Louis Barnes and James Ogilvie were in action at the winter edition of the Round Sheffield Run, and event broken up into segments of varying length and elevation, with names such as King of the Mountain, Limb Valley and Sprint Finish. Louis got round the interesting race format in 1:39:41, with James taking on the run in a pair calling themselves ‘Blink & You’ll Miss Us’ and finished in 2:04:48.
